NGM College Partners with Iyarkai Nesi Trust to Host Anti-Plastic Competitions

POLLACHI, TAMIL NADU — Nallamuthu Gounder Mahalingam (NGM) College has officially announced a series of college-level competitions focused on the “Eradication of Plastic Bag Usage”. Organized in collaboration with the Iyarkai Nesi Public Charitable Trust, the initiative is designed to raise awareness about the harmful effects of plastic bags and inspire students to promote sustainable, eco-friendly alternatives.

According to an official circular dated July 2, 2026, authorized by Principal In-charge Dr. T.E. Manjulavalli, the event encourages creative expression and innovative thinking from the student body.

Competition Categories

The institution, which holds an ‘A++’ Grade accreditation by NAAC and operates as an ISO 9001:2015 Certified Institution, has outlined two primary remote events:

• Drawing/Poster Making: Participants are challenged to visually depict a plastic-free future.

• Essay Writing (English/Tamil): Students must write on the theme, “The Threat of plastic bags to our Environment and Eco-friendly Alternatives”.

Both events are to be prepared by students from their homes.

Submission Guidelines and Recognition

To ensure a smooth evaluation process, the college administration has established strict guidelines for all participants:

• Requirements: All submissions must be original and neatly presented.

• Identification: Entries must clearly display the participant’s name, class, register number, department, and contact number.

• Deadline: Completed entries must be submitted to the respective Heads of the Department (HoDs) on or before 1:00 p.m. on July 3, 2026.

Following the submission deadline, faculty coordinators will collect the entries from the HoDs for further processing. The selection committee will award 1st and 2nd prizes year-wise (for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd-year students) within each competition category. Selected winners will be honored with a Winner’s medal and a certificate.
