NGM College Pollachi Announces Research Vacancies for ICSSR-Funded Project on Nilgiris Tribal Studies 🏔️🐾
POLLACHI, TAMIL NADU – NGM College, a NAAC A++ accredited institution, has officially opened applications for key research positions for its upcoming 2026 project cycle. The study, funded by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), focuses on the intersection of indigenous wisdom and modern ecological challenges in South India.
Exploring Indigenous Solutions to Human-Animal Conflicts 🌿
The project, titled “Indigenous Knowledge in Mitigating Human-Animal Conflicts: A Multidisciplinary Analysis among PVTGs and Non-Tribal Communities in the Nilgiris District, South India,” seeks to bridge the gap between traditional practices and wildlife conservation.
The research team is led by Dr. L. Ranjit, Head of the Department of Social Work, alongside Co-Project Director Dr. P. Veerasakthi Vinayagan from the Department of Human Excellence.

✅ Eligibility Requirements
For Research Assistant:

Education: Must hold a Post Graduate degree in a social science discipline with a minimum of 55% marks.

Credentials: Candidates must have cleared NET or hold an M.Phil./Ph.D..

Language: Fluency in Tamil is strictly mandatory.

Preference: Prior experience in tribal studies and qualitative data analysis is highly valued.
For Field Investigator:

Education: Post Graduate in a social science discipline (minimum 55%).
