The Department of Commerce (Finance) and Consumer Awareness Club organised a Capacity Building Programme on Intellectual Property Rights & Patents, Design on 11 August 2026. Shri. Kumar Raju, Assistant Controller of Patents & Design, RGNIIPM, Nagpur, acted as the resource person. The programme was conducted via CISCO Webex Online platform. The session focused on creating awareness about Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), Patents, Industrial Designs and Trademarks.
Outcome
The programme provided participants with awareness of Intellectual Property Rights, Patents, Designs and Trademarks and helped them understand the basic patent filing and grant procedure. Participants gained knowledge about the importance of novelty, innovation and confidentiality in protecting intellectual creations. They also developed an understanding of industrial design protection and the role of trademarks in protecting brands and products. The practical examples shared during the session helped participants relate IPR concepts to real-life applications. Overall, the programme enhanced participants' knowledge of IPR and encouraged research, innovation and entrepreneurship.
