Sri M. Balasubramaniam serves as the Secretary of NGM College, Pollachi (Nallamuthu Gounder Mahalingam College), bringing over two decades of governance experience to one of Tamil Nadu’s leading autonomous institutions. The second son of Arutchelvar Dr. N. Mahalingam, founder of the Sakthi Group, Sri Balasubramaniam has been a member of the College’s Governing Body for more than 20 years, lending his deep industry expertise and long-standing family commitment to education toward the institution’s continued growth.

He holds a Master’s Degree in Commerce from Madras University and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Notre Dame, USA, an academic foundation that has underpinned a distinguished, multi-decade career across finance, manufacturing, and industry leadership.

At present, Sri M. Balasubramaniam is the Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Sakthi Finance Ltd., Coimbatore, one of South India’s established non-banking financial companies, operating a network of over 21 branches across India. He joined the company as a Director in 1985 and has remained closely associated with its growth for nearly four decades since.

He has also been instrumental in the healthy growth of ABT Industries’ Dairy Division, further extending his impact across the group’s diversified business interests.

Industry and Academic Leadership

Beyond his corporate responsibilities, Sri Balasubramaniam has held prominent leadership positions in Indian industry bodies. He served as Chairman of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in 1999, having earlier led the Coimbatore Zone of CII and served on the Management Committee of the Coimbatore Management Association. He has also served as a Senate Member of Bharathiar University, Coimbatore, reflecting his sustained contribution to higher education governance in the region, alongside his role as Correspondent of Kumaraguru College of Technology.
