In November 2018, NGM College created an Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) as part of the MHRD, and they were honored with the first golden star by MHRD. IIC works to ignite entrepreneurship among students, and they do this through a variety of activities. From encouraging students with innovative projects to organizing product expos to showcase their inventors and hosting idea contests and hackathons to identify talented individuals and provide mentorship for them, IIC has made a point to facilitate venture creation.

To foster the culture of Innovation and Entrepreneurship among the students, IIC of Nallamuthu Gounder Mahalingam College organises various Workshops. Seminars, hackathon, competitions related to Innovation and entrepreneurship. The events not only impart Knowledge among the student’s but also induce to generate new innovate ideas and leads further to convert idea into prototype.

The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India, has created the ‘MHRD’s Innovation Cell (MIC)’ to cultivate a culture of innovation within Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). The central goal of MIC is to actively promote, motivate, and cultivate innovation among young students in their formative years by providing support for the development of new ideas and facilitating the transformation of these ideas into prototypes.

Our NGM College effectively formed the Institute Innovation Council (IIC) during the academic year 2018-19, in alignment with the guidelines and directives set forth by the MHRD Innovation Cell. The primary objective of this council is to methodically promote an innovation-driven culture within the institute. IICs are entrusted with the responsibility of organizing activities in accordance with the activity calendar outlined by the MHRD Innovation Cell.

Vision:

To foster a culture that nurtures creativity, critical thinking, idea generation and entrepreneurial capabilities among students and staff. This aims to translate innovative ideas into potential startups for the societal advancement.

Mission:

  • To establish an innovative ecosystem within the institution
  • To provide infrastructure and mentoring support to prepare students for National and International-level Hackathons.
  • To establish a collaborative environment that fosters interactions, research, and innovations across multiple disciplines.
  • To strengthen students’ communication, business acumen, management, leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • To generate awareness and facilitate understanding of intellectual property rights.

 

About Pre-Incubation Centre- NGM -PICIS

The Pre-Incubation Centre- NGM -PICIS is established with a primary goal: to foster the development of ideas and innovations that not only benefit society but are also commercially viable by the end of the incubation program. Our center offers a comprehensive incubation program, facilitating collaborations with mentors, industry leaders, partners, and investment professionals. NGM – PICIS, in association with the Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC),identifies the most promising founders from all academic disciplines on campus, providing seed funding, with the possibility of further investment at the conclusion of the incubation cycle. Leveraging a growing network of esteemed entrepreneurs, we guide and mentor the emerging innovators, helping them transform their creative ideas into successful entrepreneurial ventures through a commitment to excellence and service.

The Objective of NGM –PICIS:

To instill an entrepreneurial culture, we aim to:

  • Provide students, alumni, and faculty with opportunities to bring their business ideas to fruition, with these facilities accessible to the wider public.
  • Cultivate an innovation-driven atmosphere on campus.
  • Assist in translating ideas into reality, elevating them to commercial viability.
  • Establish a startup ecosystem within the campus community.
  • Facilitate resource availability for incubatees in a mutually beneficial manner.
  • Foster a conducive working environment for incubatees to nurture their innovative ideas.
  • Collaborate with private and public sector funding sources, government agencies, industrial associations, chambers of commerce, and industries to facilitate networking and support for incubated companies.
