The College was founded by the Pollachi Kalvi Kazhagam through the vision of Thiru S.P. Nallamuthu Gounder and Arutchelvar Dr. N. Mahalingam.

  • 1957 — College inaugurated on 12 July with 160 Pre-University students
  • 1959 — Degree courses begin (Economics, Mathematics and Physics)
  • 1975 — Co-education introduced
  • 1976 — Semester system introduced
  • 1979 — Became a postgraduate institution
  • 1987–88 — Autonomous status
  • 2007 — Golden Jubilee; accredited with ‘A’ grade by NAAC
  • 2013 — Re-accredited with ‘A’ grade (CGPA 3.33)
  • 4th cycle — Accredited with A++, the highest NAAC grade
